The Common Garbage Can (purgamentorum receptáculum vulgaris) lives in large cities where it gets nourishment not from the polluted ground, but from the things that humans throw away.

The cans are first used to collect and digest trash, but as they grow taller they are instead used to attract pigeons and seagulls and other city-dwelling birds, in hopes of luring them inside the cans. While the prey is looking for food the lid closes above it. The phytotelmata inside the cans then digests the prey.

Since humans are known to throw away a wide variety of substances that are not necessarily organic, the plant is extremely hardened and some specimens have been reported to even digest car batteries and tires. Scientists are conducting experiments with Garbage Cans to see if they can be of use in nuclear waste repositories.

Garbage Cans are also well liked by the mafia and other people who need to get rid of large bodies of organic matter quickly.

About this picture: An urban plant! It was probably inspired by plants like this. This is just a pencil sketch (IWANTAWACOM) that I scanned and coloured with mouse (IWANTAWACOM); I didn't feel like putting many hours of effort into it, because my arm hurts. (IWANTAWACOM:crying:) However, feel free to have opinions, critique is always appreciated :D

Hmm...

A Pitcher Plant changed into a giant organic waste-disposing organism. Very creative.

Not sure about that flower at the top of the traffic light, however, I find this innovative and creative. The trestice on the Common Garbage Can adds to the flavor of this whimsical piece. You added a smile to my face and got a :+fav: in exchange. ^_^ Kudos to you!

I have a pencil and I know how to use it.

I once asked for directions and they told me "You are here". Now if only I could find that on a map.

I like the pitcher plant influence! Will there by any chance be a venus fly trap urban plant in the future?
:iconteblad:
"trestice"?

thank you so much! i'm glad you liked it!

It's one of those words that everyone gets hinky over. A treastice is written. Trestice is a town in the Czech Republic. Go figure. >_<U

I still think it's great. ^_^ Might you consider offering it as part of an Urban Flora calendar With little hand written field notes scrawled in the margins.

i'm sorry, but english is only my 2nd language; i don't know what "treastice" means at all =P but you said that it's something that is written, so i guess you mean the "facts" i wrote about the garbage plant. :D

an urban flora calendar is a great idea! :D hmm, then i need to come up with eleven more ideas... :plotting: thank you!
